Bruno Pernadas - Private Reasons
Bruno Pernadas’ latest album is a masterclass in the combination of various genres into one coherent and very bright record. The opener of the album Family Vows is a mix of Indie Pop and Psychedelia, with a catchy chorus and a fantastic guitar solo in the second half of the song. Lafeti Uti makes you feel like you are boogieing in Brazil, with an entrancing synth and drums that remind me of the beach. Fuzzy Soul feels like Bruno Pernadas’ words are wrapping around you into a blanket, tucking you in for a good night's sleep. Theme Vision is easily one of the best tracks on the record, with the opening lines “I may not want you, ooh What a Time to Tell You”, which goes on to have one of the best climaxes on the record where I can best describe it as a bee that is flying constantly around your vicinity trying desperately to find some more pollen combined with the end of She’s So Heavy. Little Season I is a great example of how to build a song, with the driving chorus (literally) of “Driving My Car, All On My Own” interspersed with fantastic woodwind instruments and singing from the female vocalist. I could go on and on about this record as it just has so many interesting ideas and shows that Bruno Pernadas knows how to make an arrangement for each song that he crafts. This album is always a good way to brighten my day and I cannot wait to see what Bruno has in store for his next record.
